Rev. Gerald Perkins, SR
Pastor Perkins is a native of Jennings, LA, where he grew up. He was baptized at an early age at Union Baptist Church by his pastor, Dr. G.C. Chaney. He preached his first sermon on October 27, 1974 at the age of 16. Pastor Perkins was ordained to the Gospel Ministry on November 15, 1978. He was elected Pastor of Union Baptist Church on December 1, 1985, after the retirement of his Pastor. He attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA, Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, and the SW Extension Center of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is also a graduate of Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary in Newburg, Indiana where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Christian Management and Leadership. He is a Master of Divinity Degree student with Trinity Theological Seminary.
Pastor Perkins is the father of four sons, Gerald Perkins, Jr., Jeremy Perkins, Jared Perkins, and Jeremiah Perkins. He is active in the community and served on the Advisory Boards of Big Brothers and Big Sisters and Jennings American Legion Hospital. He also served on the Jennings Renewal Team. He served for two terms as President of the Seventh District Missionary Baptist State Association. He served as Sub-Vice President for the Southwest Region of the Louisiana Missionary Baptist State Convention. Pastor Perkins has a genuine love for the Body Of Christ and an eager desire to win lost souls to Jesus Christ.
