Rev. Gerald Perkins, SR

Pastor Perkins is a native of Jennings, LA, where he grew up. He was baptized at an early age at Union Baptist Church by his pastor, Dr. G.C. Chaney. He preached his first sermon on October 27, 1974 at age 16. Pastor Perkins was ordained to the Gospel Ministry on November 15, 1978. He was elected Pastor of Union Baptist Church on December 1, 1985, after the retirement of his pastor. He attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA, Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, and the SW Extension Center of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He earned the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Management and Leadership from Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary in Evansville, Indiana. Pastor Perkins earned the Master of Arts Degree in Ministry Studies with a specialization in Congregational Leadership from BSK Theological Seminary on May 17, 2025. Pastor Perkins is a member of the Advisory Board of Jeff Davis Bank.
Pastor Perkins is the father of four sons, Gerald Jr., Jeremy, Jared, and Jeremiah. He is active in his community. He served on the Advisory Boards of Jennings American Legion Hospital and Big Brothers and Big Sisters. He also served on the Jennings Renewal Team. He presently serves as President of A Path Going Forward which is a community organization. He served two terms as President of the Seventh District Missionary Baptist Association, and presently serves as a Sub-Vice President of the Louisiana Missionary Baptist State Convention. Pastor Perkins has a genuine love for the Body Of Christ and all people. He has an eager desire to win lost souls to Christ.
